Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, expressed concerns on Thursday over the feasibility of meeting organized labour’s wage demands, during a meeting with the National Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Abuja.
The former Benue State Governor highlighted the challenges of implementing a N100,000 minimum wage, noting,
“I can’t afford to pay my driver one hundred thousand because they are four.” he said.
Akume called for support from the Christian community as negotiations on the minimum wage continue, questioning the source of the funds needed to meet such demands.
