Senator Abdul Ningi (Bauchi, PDP) resumed participation in Senate plenary sessions on Tuesday following the end of his three-month suspension.
Ningi’s suspension, which began on March 12, 2024, was lifted after the Senate granted him a pardon. Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced Ningi’s return, citing appeals from fellow lawmakers.
The move followed a motion by Deputy Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, who expressed regret on Ningi’s behalf and assumed responsibility for his actions.
Ningi had been suspended due to a controversial interview in which he alleged discrepancies in the 2024 budget, claiming the National Assembly approved N25 trillion while the Presidency implemented N28.7 trillion.
