In a significant ruling, the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, convened in Abuja, has upheld the re-election of Governor Douye Diri in Bayelsa state.
The tribunal unanimously dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Timipre Sylva.
The APC had contested the outcome of the last governorship election in Bayelsa state.
The Justice Adekunle Adeleye-led tribunal held that the petitioners failed to present credible evidence to substantiate their allegations against the election results.
The allegations raised by the APC were not sufficiently supported.
The tribunal struck out all additional proof of evidence and statements on oath provided by witnesses testifying for the petitioners.
