Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has taken a significant step toward fostering unity and equality within the state.
He declared that there would be no division based on indigene status under his watch. Both indigenes and non-indigenes residing in Abia will be treated equally.
Governor Otti stated,
“I think what is most important is also that this administration does not discriminate, we don’t even want to know what part of Abia you’re coming from.
“We don’t even want to know what part of Igboland you come from. Once you reside here (in Abia), you are a part of us.
“That is why today, we have for the first time a Permanent Secretary, who does not come from Abia State, who does not come from any state in the South East but comes from Edo state,”
In addition to promoting inclusivity, Governor Otti announced a groundbreaking project—a multi-billion naira terminal that will consolidate all motor parks and include a railway station. This ambitious initiative will enhance transportation infrastructure in Umuahia, which Governor Otti previously described as a “glorified village.”
Despite the absence of a celebration party for his one year in office, Governor Otti remains steadfast in doing what he believes is right for Abia State.
He called for prayers and support from Abia citizens, emphasizing that his administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of the people, regardless of opposition or criticism.
During the thanksgiving service, Reverend Uma Onwunta of the Presbyterian Church reminded everyone of the importance of gratitude.
