Kylian Mbappé, the renowned forward for Paris Saint-Germain, has openly accepted responsibility for the team’s departure from the Champions League this past Tuesday.
The semi-final bout with Borussia Dortmund concluded with a 2-0 aggregate score, following a 1-0 defeat at their home ground during the second leg.
Mbappé acknowledged that the outcome was a consequence of squandered opportunities, some of which were his own doing.
Despite dominating possession with nearly 70% and launching 30 shots in the second leg, the Ligue 1 titleholders were thwarted by the goal frame on four occasions.
“I tried to help my team as best as I could but I didn’t do enough.” Mbappe reflected.
“When we talk about being efficient in the boxes, I think I’m the one targeted. I’m the guy who should score goals and be decisive.
“When things are good, I take all the limelight and when they are not, you have to take the shadow. That’s not a problem.
“The first one who should have scored tonight was me. That’s life and we have to move on, me and the team,”
