The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has proudly announced the formation of a 200-strong campaign council in preparation for the gubernatorial election slated for September 21, 2024.
Tony Anenih (Jnr.), the PDP State Organising Secretary, revealed that this council comprises dedicated and dynamic PDP members, all selected with the goal of ensuring victory for the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo.
The campaign’s architecture includes an Advisory Council led by the incumbent State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, a Management Committee, and the main Campaign Council, which boasts 200 distinguished PDP members.
Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, the governor’s wife, alongside Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, will spearhead the women’s wing, while the youth wing will be under the guidance of Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor.
Anenih emphasized that Governor Obaseki personally oversaw the meticulous selection process, ensuring a team capable of championing Dr. Ighodalo’s sophisticated and visionary candidacy.
“I do not have any doubt whatsoever in my mind, that this group of very versatile members of the PDP that have been carefully chosen, will deliver our erudite, intellectually-sound and broad-minded candidate, Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo,” he said.
“The advisory council has seven eminent members of the state, with the Governor as Chairman; the Management Committee is made up of the Director General and 13 Deputies for Finance, Contact and Mobilization and Media/ Publicity Field Operations and Security, among others”
Anenih underscored the independent yet interconnected roles of the youth and women wings, both of which are pivotal to the campaign’s strategy.
In closing, he extended congratulations to all appointed members and urged them to commence their efforts with vigor and determination.
“On behalf of the party, I congratulate every one of you who have been selected, and the party hopes and expects you to hit the ground running.”
