Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has put to rest the speculations surrounding the title of the First Lady, following a mix-up involving promotional materials for the visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
On April 22, 2024, two separate fliers surfaced, each claiming to be from one of Governor Adeleke’s wives, Ngozi Adeleke and Titilola Adeleke, both extending a welcome to the First Lady.
These fliers, which quickly spread on social media, implied a rivalry for the First Lady position in Osun State.
Governor Adeleke has since invalidated one of the fliers, labeling it as counterfeit.
Through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke affirmed that there is no dispute between his wives over the role of the First Lady.
He confirmed that Titilola Adeleke holds the title and will be the one to welcome Senator Tinubu.
Furthermore, the governor disclosed that the individual responsible for the unauthorized flier, purportedly from Ngozi Adeleke, has been apprehended.
The official statement clarified, “The attention of Mr Governor has been drawn to fake news in circulation about conflict over who among the Governor’s two wives is to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her official visit to the State tomorrow.
“For clarification, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, is officially hosting the First Lady of the Republic tomorrow in line with the directive of Mr Governor. There is no confusion on this official position.
“The state government under Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to receive the First Lady and her team in Osun State.”
The governor’s office is prepared to host the First Lady of Nigeria and her delegation, emphasizing that the misleading flier did not originate from Ngozi Adeleke and was the work of those aiming to cause unrest and confusion.
