The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State is set for its governorship primary this Saturday, with the supervisory committee confirming that 171,922 accredited members are eligible to cast their votes.
The primary, which will unfold across 203 wards in 18 local government areas, features 16 aspirants, including the incumbent governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Following a meeting with stakeholders and aspirants in Akure, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, the secretary of the overseeing committee, announced that all aspirants remain in the race, with no pre-primary withdrawals or concessions.
The committee has expressed its readiness to facilitate the direct primary throughout the state, urging aspirants to promote a peaceful electoral process among their supporters.
Sen. Omo-Agege emphasized the committee’s commitment to adhering to the party’s guidelines and constitution, ensuring a transparent, equitable, and credible primary. Collaborative efforts with state security agencies aim to maintain order during the event.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) notes that the committee is led by Gov. Usman Ododo of Kogi, who will oversee the pivotal electoral process.
