Eniola Aluko, the former England international, has etched her name in history by becoming the first black female owner within Italian football.
Aluko has taken a significant ownership position in the women’s team of FC Como.
The 37-year-old shared the news on her social media platform, disclosing her involvement with Mercury 13, an investment group that has secured a majority stake with a $100 million investment.
Established just two years ago, Como Women play their matches in a stadium that can accommodate 3,700 spectators and compete in the premier division of Italy’s Serie A.
Born in Lagos to Nigerian parents, Eniola Aluko, whose brother Sone Aluko played for the Nigerian national team, later became a naturalized English citizen and represented the Three Lionesses in international football.
