The All Progressives Congress (APC) has authorized all 16 candidates vying for the party’s nomination in the upcoming November 20 gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
The party’s seven-member screening panel, chaired by Senator Joshua Lidani, endorsed each candidate for the primary election scheduled for April 20.
The committee’s report to the APC’s Directorate of Organisation in Abuja on Saturday highlighted that considerations were made regarding the aspirants’ eligibility, suitability, character, and support base, among other criteria.
The list of approved candidates includes the sitting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, alongside Isaac Kekemeke, a former APC National Vice-Chairman for the South West, and Olusoji Ehinlanwo, an ex-legislator.
Also cleared were Olugbenga Edema and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.
The lineup continues with Mrs. Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, Akinfolarin Samuel, ex-Commissioner for Finance Adewale Akinterinwa, Chief Olusola Oke, Ohunyeye Felix, and Morayo Lebi.
Completing the roster are Garvey Iyanjan, Professor Francis Faduyile, Mrs. Judith Omogoroye, Ifeoluwa Oyedele, and Okunjimi John.
The report emphasized the aspirants’ collective commitment to support whoever becomes the party’s nominee for the November 2024 governorship race.
The APC leadership has been urged to ensure the integrity of the April 20 primary, aiming for a process that is transparent, equitable, and universally accepted.
