Jimoh Ibrahim, a gubernatorial candidate on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform for the upcoming Ondo State election, has announced the payment of N100 million.
This significant contribution is aimed at facilitating the participation of certain party members in the APC primaries scheduled for April 10.
The entrepreneur’s move ensures that these members can revalidate their affiliation with the party, adhering to the national leadership’s directive that only members up-to-date with their dues will be eligible to vote in the primaries.
This development comes in the wake of the party’s decision to employ a direct primary method to select its flag bearer from among 16 contenders vying for the gubernatorial ticket.
Ibrahim articulated his rationale for the payment, stating, “I have contributed N100 million to our national secretariat’s funds as the dues for some of our party members across all 18 local government areas in the state. This act is intended to avert the potential disenfranchisement of numerous party members during the gubernatorial primaries.”
