In a significant crackdown, the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State has apprehended approximately 45 individuals on charges ranging from kidnapping to other criminal activities.
Corps Commander Adetunji Adeleye, who presented the suspects to the public, reported that the arrests were made across various regions of the state.
Of those detained, 14 are facing charges of kidnapping, five for burglary, two for breaching the anti-grazing statute, and four for causing public disturbances.
Additional arrests were made for a variety of offences, including reckless driving, theft, and possession of stolen property.
Commander Adeleye also mentioned that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has authorized the release of 28 individuals implicated in less serious crimes.
He added: “The governor released them in the spirit of the festive period and they will be released with strict warning not to perpetrate such acts again. The remaining suspects will however face the full wrath of the law.”
