The Federal Government has declared Thursday, April 11, as an extra public holiday in honor of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This announcement was made in a statement released by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, extended the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government and extended his congratulations to the Muslim community on the successful observance of the Ramadan fast.
The minister praised Ramadan as a time for “spiritual renewal” and echoed President Bola Tinubu’s pledge to foster a secure and prosperous environment for all Nigerians.
Previously, the Federal Government had designated Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, which is observed by Muslims globally as the conclusion of Ramadan’s month-long fast from dawn until sunset.
