J. Cole, the renowned American rapper, has extended an apology to fellow artist Kendrick Lamar following a diss.
Previously, J. Cole had responded to Lamar’s critique on the track ‘7 Minute Drill,’ where he suggested Lamar had lost his edge, comparing his decline to that of ‘the Simpsons.’
This was in retaliation to Lamar’s own disparaging remarks on the song ‘Like That’ by Future and Metro Boomin, which also featured Lamar and took aim at both Cole and Drake.
In an unexpected move, J. Cole interrupted his performance at the Dreamville Festival in North Carolina this Sunday, taking a moment to publicly express his regret to Lamar.
Additionally, J. Cole has vowed to remove the contentious diss track from all streaming platforms.
J. Cole said, “I’m so proud of my latest project, ‘Might Delete Later,’ excerpt for one part. Is one part of that sht that made me feel like that is the lamest sht I ever did in my fcking life… I struggled with my spirit to put out the Kendrick Lamar’s diss. That sht doesn’t sit right with my spirit. That sh*t disrupt my peace.
“What I want to say tonight is that in the midst of me doing that sht and downplaying this ngga’s [Lamar’s] catalogue and his greatness, I want to say right now tonight, how many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest to ever to pick up a microphone?
“Dreamville, I love Kendrick Lamar. I pray that my n*gga [Lamar] didn’t feel bad. I haven’t been sleeping right the last few days…We taking that diss off streaming services.”
