Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, has clarified that he has no intentions of leaving the party, emphasizing his dedication to resolving internal conflicts amicably.
During a recent community service event where he inaugurated a new borehole at Pantami Sheep Market in Gombe State, Obi addressed the ongoing speculations.
The market serves thousands of entrepreneurs and residents.
Obi reiterated his commitment to unity and peace, stating, “We are united as one people, and our focus should be on fostering peace. I am confident that we will overcome our current challenges.”
In addition to his peace advocacy, Obi is actively engaging with communities across the nation, particularly during the Ramadan period, to address the needs of the Muslim faithful.
The Labour Party has been experiencing internal disagreements, centering around Julius Abure’s leadership.
While some party members claim Abure’s chairmanship has ended, he was reportedly re-elected at a recent party convention in Anambra.
This outcome has been contested by numerous party affiliates and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which insists on a change in leadership.
