The Senate Contemplates Reversal of Senator Ningi’s SuspensionUpon his return from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Senate President Godswill Akpabio hinted at the possibility of recalling Senator Abdul Ningi, the representative of Bauchi Central, from his three-month suspension.
Senator Akpabio acknowledged the need to revisit the suspension imposed on Ningi, stemming from his assertion that the 2024 budget contained an alleged padding of N3.7 trillion.
In response to a letter from Ningi’s legal counsel, Femi Falana SAN, urging his recall within seven days or facing legal action, Akpabio assured that the matter is receiving due consideration.
Expressing a familial approach to the issue, Akpabio emphasized the Senate’s intention to resolve the matter amicably, hopeful for Ningi’s prompt return to his legislative duties.
“The Senate is a family, and I am confident that Senator Ningi will rejoin us shortly,” Akpabio stated, underscoring the expectation for a swift resolution to the situation.
