In a significant political shift, six legislators from the Labour Party (LP) in the Enugu State House of Assembly have crossed over to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during a recent plenary session.
The assembly members who switched allegiance include the chief whip and representative for Igbo-Eze North constituency 1, Hon Ejike Ezeh; the representative for Nsukka East, Pius Onyekachi Ezugwu; the deputy chief whip and representative for Enugu South Rural, Princess Obiajulu Ugwu; the representative for Oji River, Osita Eze; the representative for Igbo-Etiti West, Engr. William Amuka; and the representative for Enugu North Urban, Johnson Ani.
This move has altered the balance of power within the assembly, granting the PDP a majority with 18 members, while relegating the LP to a minority status with six members.
