Federal Government Declares Public Holidays for Good Friday and Easter Monday in 2024.In a press statement released on Wednesday, Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, announced that the Federal Government has declared Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, 2024, as public holidays to observe Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.
The statement, signed by Ndayako, quoted the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, urging Christians and all Nigerians to reflect on the sacrificial love demonstrated by Jesus Christ during Easter.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of Easter in promoting values such as love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are crucial for social cohesion and harmony.
The Minister also encouraged acts of charity and generosity towards the less privileged, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.
He concluded by extending Easter greetings to Christians worldwide and urging Nigerians to collaborate with the government to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for all.
