Edo PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, Freed After 11-Day Abduction Tony Aziegbemi, the Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been liberated from his captors after enduring an 11-day ordeal.
According to reports, Aziegbemi was abducted by armed assailants on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11 pm, shortly after concluding a meeting with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, at the entrance to his residence.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N500 million for his release, plunging his loved ones and party members into a state of distress.
Senator Odion Ugbesia, confirming Aziegbemi’s release, conveyed his gratitude, stating, “Yes, I just spoke to him, it is true. To God be the glory.
“In a statement issued by Clem Aziegbemi, on behalf of the Aziegbemi family, appreciation was extended to the public for their outpouring of support and solidarity throughout the harrowing ordeal.
“As members of the Aziegbemi family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all for the overwhelming display of love and solidarity during the unfortunate and distressing abduction of our cherished son, brother, cousin, and leader, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, culminating in his safe release.
“We sincerely appreciate your unwavering prayers and steadfastness during this trying time,” Clem Aziegbemi expressed.
