An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Garus Gololo, has sharply criticized Senate President Godwill Akpabio, labeling his conduct as flippant, unprofessional, and childish.
Speaking to the Daily Sun newspaper, Gololo expressed concern over the implications of Akpabio’s leadership role in the National Assembly, predicting more challenges for Nigeria under his chairmanship.
Gololo lamented Akpabio’s tendency to make remarks without regard for the dignity of his position, asserting that the responsibilities of the third-highest-ranking official in Nigeria demand a more dignified approach.
He remarked, “The Senate Presidency is an esteemed institution requiring decorum and leadership.
Akpabio’s recent conduct falls short of these standards, evident in his lack of restraint during official proceedings.
“Highlighting specific instances of Akpabio’s alleged misconduct, Gololo pointed to instances where Akpabio purportedly embarrassed the nation with careless remarks and lapses in judgment, such as the handling of parliamentary affairs and public acknowledgments.
Gololo concluded by questioning the nation’s tolerance for Akpabio’s leadership style, characterized by what he described as “unbecoming behavior” unbecoming of a high-ranking government official.
