In a devastating act of violence, the village head of Madaka and twenty other individuals from the Rafi local government area in Niger state lost their lives to a terrorist attack.
The assault, which took place around 3 pm on Thursday, resulted in the destruction of over 50 homes and numerous vehicles and motorcycles.
The attackers initiated the onslaught at the local market, setting it ablaze before advancing into the residential area.
Amidst the chaos, reports emerged of sporadic gunfire and the abduction of several marketgoers.
The district head confirmed the tragic events in a phone interview, while the Police Public Relations Officer of Niger State has pledged to investigate further and provide updates, which were pending at the time this report was prepared.
