Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, made a strategic move in preparation for the 2027 general elections by visiting the Abuja National Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday.
As per a source, El-Rufai engaged in a consultation meeting with the National Chairman of the SDP, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam.
Despite his prominent role in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and past service as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), El-Rufai faced a setback when nominated for a ministerial position in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as the Senate declined to confirm him.
El-Rufai’s recent involvement with the SDP hints at a potential shift in his political affiliations, sparking speculations that he may be considering leaving the ruling APC to join the SDP and contest for a prominent position in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
