Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational Associated Institutions (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAATS) at the University of Lagos are currently conducting a peaceful protest at the school’s entrance.
According to reports from Punch, the protesting workers have blocked vehicular movement and disrupted traffic flow in the vicinity.
They are using chants and displaying placards to voice their dissatisfaction with the Federal Government regarding their delayed salaries.
For the past month, SSANU and NASU leaders have been urging the government to address their exclusion from salary payments, which were initiated for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in February.
Their salaries were withheld following the implementation of a ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari against ASUU, SSANU, and NAATS, who had engaged in strikes lasting eight months, four months, and five-and-a-half months, respectively, in 2022.
Additionally, NAATS has joined the protest by initiating a three-day warning strike starting today.
