On Wednesday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) staged a protest at the Labour Party’s secretariat to oppose the party’s upcoming national convention scheduled for the end of the month.
The NLC also called for the removal of the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure. The NLC leadership accused Abure of organizing a “secret” convention without consulting major stakeholders.
This move has led to a rift between Abure, the NLC, and the House of Representatives caucus. The workers allege that Abure’s actions are aimed at undermining and dismantling the Labour Party.
Despite their protest, the workers have been denied access to the party’s Secretariat by the Nigeria Police Force.More details to follow as the situation unfolds.
