Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has vowed to bring to justice those responsible for the recent killings of soldiers and officers in the state.
Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, the governor reassured residents of Okuama community about their safety.
The community, located in Ughelli South Local Government Area (LGA), witnessed the tragic deaths of seventeen soldiers last week, leading to widespread concern.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that military authorities have assured him of the community’s safety, stating, “I decided to brief Mr. President on our efforts to maintain peace.
We both condemn the killings of officers and soldiers who were on a peace mission.”He further assured that steps would be taken to prevent future attacks on villages, adding, “Those responsible will face the law, but innocent citizens will not be targeted.
“The governor’s remarks followed his visit to the affected community, which was described as deserted. While media access to the community was restricted, Governor Oborevwori announced plans for stakeholders in the state to convene and discuss further steps forward.
“We are on top of it,” he affirmed, signaling the government’s commitment to addressing the situation and ensuring peace and security in Delta State.
