During a meeting with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria in Abuja, Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), announced significant progress in refinery operations across Nigeria.
Kyari disclosed that the Port Harcourt refinery is nearing operational readiness, with mechanical completion achieved in December.
Currently, regulatory compliance tests are underway, and the refinery is expected to commence operations within the next two weeks.
He also mentioned the completion of mechanical work at the Warri refinery, which is undergoing regulatory compliance processes before becoming operational.
Regarding the Kaduna refinery, Kyari confirmed that it is on track to be ready for production by December 2024. While the project hasn’t reached the same stage as the other refineries, he assured stakeholders that it will be delivered as promised.
