The Nigerian Army has officially identified and released the names and photographs of the 16 soldiers who lost their lives in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area in Delta State.
Earlier reports from News Direct detailed the tragic deaths of 16 soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Battalion, who were reportedly killed by enraged youths. Disturbing details emerged indicating that some of the deceased soldiers had their heads severed, while others had their stomachs opened with vital organs missing.
In a solemn tribute, the Army took to their official social media account, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday, to share a photograph memorializing the fallen soldiers. The image also included their respective ranks.
The caption accompanying the post read, “Rest in peace our fallen heroes,” honoring the sacrifice of these brave soldiers. The names of the deceased soldiers are as follows: Maj. SD Shafa, Maj. DE Obi, Capt. U Zakari, SSgt Yahaya Saidu, Cpl Yahaya Danbaba, Cpl Kabiru Basir, LCpl Bulus Haruna, LCpl Sole Opeyemi, LCpl Bello Anas, LCpl Hamman Peter, LCpl Ibrahim Abdulahi, Pte Alhaji Isah, Pte Clement Francis, Pte Abubakar Ali, Pte Ibrahim Adamu, and Pte Adamu Ibrahim.
