In a distressing development, a bandit attack on Kajuru-station, a community within the Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state, has led to the reported kidnapping of at least 87 individuals on Sunday night.
The Kaduna State Police Command has acknowledged the incident and has dispatched officers to the site. ASP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer, has stated that the exact number of kidnapped persons remains unconfirmed.
This incident occurs in the wake of a similar attack where 16 individuals were taken from Dogon-Noma, located in the same local government area, just two days prior.
Hon. Usman Danlami Stingo, representing Kajuru in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, confirmed that bandits had abducted 86 people during the Sunday night raid.
Harisu Dari, a representative of the Kajuru-Station Youths, reported to the press that the assailants, armed with advanced weaponry, also looted shops, taking food and valuables.
The attack commenced around 10 pm, and as of his last visit, security forces had yet to arrive to reassure the shaken community.
The recent spate of attacks in Kajuru and Chikun local government areas has resulted in a total of 465 abductions over the past three weeks, raising serious concerns about security in the region.
