The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a warning to former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, urging him to cease using President Bola Tinubu’s name as a means to disrupt governance in the state.
In a statement released by the party’s state chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the PDP accused the former governor of employing tactics to create chaos in Osun State by leveraging the President’s name for political gain.
The statement condemned Oyetola’s actions, describing them as detrimental to the peace, stability, and overall agenda set forth by the President for Osun State, the South West region, and Nigeria as a whole.
The PDP further accused Oyetola of manipulating federal agencies for personal interests, citing instances where he allegedly misappropriated programs and resources to benefit his faction of the APC while disregarding others within the party and the broader populace of Osun State.
The party criticized Oyetola’s attempts to sow discord within the APC and disrupt federal-state cooperation, including alleged intimidation of state officials by utilizing federal agencies such as the FCT DSS.
The PDP emphasized the need for Oyetola to desist from such actions, warning that the party has the capability to respond but refrains from doing so out of respect for the Presidency.
The statement urged President Buhari and the Presidency to intervene and curb Oyetola’s “nefarious, vindictive, anti-state, and vengeful activities,” which are tarnishing the President’s image and undermining the larger national agenda.
The PDP concluded by calling for Oyetola to be reined in before his actions lead to an avoidable crisis in Osun State, reaffirming the state’s commitment to peace, good governance, and collaboration between the state and federal levels.
