-former President Olusegun Obasanjo Launches Leadership Book Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, hailed former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a pivotal figure in advocating for political liberation and effective governance.
Abiodun made these remarks during a lecture commemorating Obasanjo’s 87th birthday, titled “Quality Leadership and Inclusive Democracy as Catalysts for Development in a Strife-Ridden World,” held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
Acknowledging Obasanjo’s deep ties to his roots, Governor Abiodun lauded him as a globally respected democratic leader with a foresight for nurturing future leaders.
During his welcome address, former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the chairman of the lecture, highlighted factors hindering quality leadership in Africa, including access to justice, election quality, and tribalism.
He emphasized the importance of a president representing all citizens, not just their political party, and advocated for inclusiveness in governance by incorporating opposition members into leadership roles.
Danilo Turk, former President of Slovenia and Chairman of Club De Madrid, expressed the club’s commitment to combating corruption globally and ensuring the success of democracy worldwide.
He stressed the significance of democracy extending beyond the elite to empower all citizens.Meanwhile, Obasanjo launched his latest book, “The Art of Leading: Unconventional Wisdom from Biblical,” in Abeokuta.
During the presentation and dinner events at OOPL, Obasanjo underscored the paramount importance of leadership for Africa’s progress and emphasized the need for obedience and values in leadership.
