Unknown assailants have tragically taken the life of Silas Onyima, the President-General of Umuoji Community in Anambra State’s Idemili North Local Government Area.
While the details surrounding the incident remain unclear, reports indicate that a group of approximately 15 hoodlums invaded Onyima’s residence on Friday evening, fatally shooting him and instilling fear within the community.
A source familiar with the situation revealed, “The deceased had recently been elected as the president-general of our community and had overseen an election.
He was killed when masked men visited his home and carried out the fatal shooting.”Upon receiving reports of the incident, the state police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the tragic event, stating that police personnel have been dispatched to the area.Ikenga affirmed,
“The police are aware of the situation and have mobilized our forces to the area. Upon arrival, our officers discovered the victim in a pool of blood at the scene.
The body has been retrieved and taken to the morgue with assistance from family members. We are actively collaborating with eyewitnesses and community members to apprehend the perpetrators, and the investigation is ongoing.”
