Boderi, the alleged mastermind behind several high-profile attacks including those on the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and the abduction of Yauri school girls and Greenfield University students, has been killed by troops, according to Army spokesperson Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.
The Army conducted operations along the Bada – Riyawa axis on the Kaduna – Birnin Gwari Road, where Boderi and another bandit chief, Bodejo, were reportedly ambushed and killed.
The operation resulted in a fierce firefight, during which troops neutralized two insurgents and recovered weapons and other items.
In a separate operation by troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, six insurgents were ambushed and neutralized along the same axis.
This operation led to the recovery of additional weapons and ammunition, as well as the destruction of 19 motorcycles used by the insurgents.
