The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, issued a stern warning to individuals he labeled as “evil people” advocating for a coup in Nigeria amidst the current economic challenges in the country.
Speaking after inaugurating the main entrance of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Officers Transit Accommodation at the Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, General Musa emphasized the commitment of the Armed Forces to uphold democracy in Nigeria.
He asserted, “Whoever is making that call for a coup does not love Nigeria.
We want to make it very clear that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are here to protect democracy.
“General Musa highlighted the importance of democracy and reiterated the Armed Forces’ dedication to supporting it.
He warned those advocating for anything other than democracy that the law would pursue them, emphasizing that their intentions were detrimental to Nigeria’s well-being.
Addressing the current economic challenges facing the nation, General Musa urged Nigerians to exercise patience, noting that the government is focused on finding solutions to these challenges.”Everybody goes through a trying period in life, and it is what you do with them,” he stated.
“You can see the government putting efforts to ensure that we come out better.” He assured Nigerians that despite the difficulties, the nation would emerge stronger, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and resilience in nation-building.
