In a recent operation, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted raids on the offices of several Bureau de Change operators in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
During the operation, at least twelve operators were arrested, primarily from shops located in the Sabo area.
Sabo, situated in Ward 6 of the Ibadan North local government area, is predominantly inhabited by northerners.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the arrests occurred between 10 to 11 am.
Confirming the incident, Aminu Ibrahim Babankande, Chairman of the Bureau de Change operators, acknowledged the raids.
Speaking over the phone, Babankande stated that he is currently investigating the exact number of individuals apprehended.
“We are yet to ascertain the number of arrests. Our investigation is ongoing. We are committed to cooperating with the authorities,” Babankande remarked.
