The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is questioning Abdulfatah Ahmed, the ex-Governor of Kwara State, regarding financial transactions totaling billions of naira that occurred during his tenure as governor
The former Kwara governor was observed entering the Ilorin office of the anti-graft agency on Monday morning.
Having been invited by the EFCC, he is presently responding to inquiries regarding the expenditure of funds during his administration.
Abdulfatah Ahmed served as the governor of the North Central state from May 2011 to May 2019 before handing over to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Notably, in May 2021, he faced questioning at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja over allegations of diverting approximately N9 billion from the Kwara State Government’s funds.
The funds are claimed to have been redirected during Ahmed’s term as governor and his tenure as the Commissioner for Finance in the administration of former Governor Bukola Saraki.
