The Federal Government has initiated the disbursement of the withheld salaries for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Prof. Gbolahan Bolarin, ASUU’s chairperson at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, confirmed the news, stating, “Yes, it is true. Payment has started rolling in.”

In October 2023, President Bola Tinubu authorized the release of four months’ worth of withheld salaries for ASUU workers out of the eight months affected.
These salaries had been held back during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who implemented a ‘No Work, No Pay policy’ in response to university-based unions engaging in an eight-month strike in 2022.
