The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State lost its Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Namang, and another person to gunmen on Saturday.
Sources said the attack happened at a leisure centre in Pankshin, in the Pankshin Local Government Area of the state.
They said the gunmen stormed the place on Saturday night, fired at the APC spokesman at close range and killed him instantly.
The gunmen also kidnapped another person whose corpse was later found along a road in the area.
The Plateau State Chairman of the party, Rufus Bature, verified Namang’s death to Channels Television on phone.
Bature said Namang’s death was cruel and tragic, saying it has plunged the party and family members into grief.
The motive of the gunmen who attacked the party’s publicity secretary who was with friends at the social centre is still unknown.
The Plateau State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, when reached, said he was in a meeting and could not comment on the issue.
The deceased publicity secretary was a journalist who later rose to become General Manager of Plateau State Publishing Company.
