In the latest FIFA rankings, Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has slipped eight places to 38th globally.
Their lackluster performance during the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for Africa contributed to this decline. Notably, Nigeria suffered their first-ever defeat to Benin Republic and managed only a draw against South Africa, leaving their World Cup hopes hanging in the balance.
On the continental front, the Super Eagles now occupy the fifth spot in Africa, trailing behind Morocco (12th globally), Senegal (18th), Egypt (36th), and Cote d’Ivoire (37th).
Meanwhile, Argentina, France, Belgium, Brazil, and England continue to dominate the global rankings.
