The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has granted a ten-day extension for the registration and submission of pre-qualification documents in the 2024 oil block licensing round.
Mr. Gbenga Komolafe, the Commission’s Chief Executive, made this announcement in a statement issued from Abuja.
The original deadline, initially set for June 25, 2024, has been extended by 10 days. Interested parties now have until July 5, 2024, to complete their registration and submit pre-qualification documents.
NUPRC is committed to maximizing the value of Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves and boosting production. To achieve this, the Commission collaborates with multi-client companies to conduct additional exploratory activities, gathering crucial data for informed decision-making.
Based on newly acquired data related to deep offshore blocks, NUPRC has included 17 such blocks in the 2024 Licensing Round. Detailed information about these blocks is available on the bid portal.
The process for data access, purchase, evaluation, bid preparation, and submission remains on track. It will begin on July 8 and conclude on November 29, 2024, as previously scheduled.
While some assets were initially suggested to be applied for as clusters (e.g., PPL 300-CS & PPL 301-CS, PPL 2000, and PPL 2001), bidders now have the option to bid for these blocks either as clusters or as single units.
NUPRC aims to facilitate investment and enhance Nigeria’s upstream sector through these measures.
