In a dramatic Group D opener at Euro 2024, the Netherlands secured a 2-1 win against Poland, marking Poland’s first defeat under coach Michał Probierz.
Despite missing their star player Robert Lewandowski, Poland initially took the lead with Adam Buksa’s header.
The Dutch, however, equalized through Cody Gakpo’s deflected shot and clinched the win with a late goal from Wout Weghorst.
The Netherlands’ triumph continues their winning start in major tournaments, while Poland must seek to end their winless streak in the Euros since 2016.
