The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced a temporary resumption of sachet and plastic bottle alcohol sales, following a consensus with the House of Representatives.
Deputy spokesperson Philip Agbese confirmed that sales would persist until economic conditions improve.
The House Committee on NAFDAC, after extensive stakeholder consultations, concluded that the ban was impractical amidst current economic strains.
The initial prohibition aimed to address health risks but faced opposition due to potential economic repercussions.
The temporary lift seeks to balance regulatory health concerns with economic realities.
