The Federal High Court in Kano has ruled in favor of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, ordering the Kano State Government to pay N10 million for violating his fundamental human rights.
Justice Simon Amobeda, who presided over the case, declared the arrest order issued by Governor Abba Yusuf against Bayero as illegal, leading to an undue house arrest due to fear of apprehension.
The lawsuit involved multiple respondents including the Attorney General of the Federation, Kano State’s Attorney General, and various security agencies.
The court has now barred these entities from any actions that would infringe upon Bayero’s fundamental rights.
