The Nigerian Senate has given its approval to the Supplementary Appropriation Bill for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the year 2024, which amounts to N98.5 billion.
Senator Osita Ngwu, serving as the Vice Chairman of the FCT Committee (PDP-Enugu), was responsible for presenting and securing the adoption of the bill.
During his presentation, Senator Ngwu referenced the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended), noting that the FCT’s supplementary appropriation bill underwent its initial reading on May 15, followed by a second reading on June 6.
It was then assigned to the FCT Committee for additional legislative scrutiny.
He further detailed that the committee engaged in discussions with the FCT minister and other key FCT administration officials, as mandated by the constitution, to thoroughly review the budgetary details.
