Elon Musk, the tech magnate, has expressed concerns over Apple Inc.’s plans to integrate OpenAI’s AI software into its operating systems, citing security risks.
This move could potentially affect over 1.4 billion iPhone users globally, not to mention users of other Apple products like Macs and Apple Watches.
Following Apple’s announcement that it would enable access to OpenAI’s ChatGPT via Siri, Musk took to the social media platform X to voice his apprehensions.
He labeled the integration as a “security violation” and suggested that Apple devices might be prohibited from his companies should the integration proceed at the operating system level.
Musk’s proposed security measures include a mandatory checkpoint for Apple devices at his company’s entrances.
These devices would be stored in Faraday cages to block any electronic signals or data transmission, ensuring the prevention of potential security breaches.
Musk’s tweet read: “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my company. That is an unacceptable security violation.
“And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage,”
