In a tribute to literary greatness, President Bola Tinubu has dedicated the M18 road within Abuja’s Guzape district as the Chinua Achebe Expressway.
The expressway was officially commissioned this Saturday, with the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, announcing the honor bestowed upon the late distinguished novelist and poet.
Chinua Achebe, celebrated as a pioneer of modern African literature, passed away in 2013, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire at the age of 83.
This act of commemoration follows President Tinubu’s recent dedication of the N20 arterial road to Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, another luminary of African literature.
The recommendation for this honor came from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration, as conveyed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The capital city has witnessed similar honors in the past, with the southern parkway, a key thoroughfare from the National Christian Centre to ring road one, being named after President Tinubu himself by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike earlier in May.
