Two-time Champions League-winning manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will be taking over as the new head coach of Turkish club Fenerbahce.
Mourinho, who has previously led Porto and Inter Milan to Champions League victories, announced his new role on Saturday.
The Portuguese coach has been out of work since his dismissal from Roma in January.
“Good evening Fenerbahce fans, see you tomorrow at Kadikoy and let’s start our journey together,” Mourinho posted on Fenerbahce’s official X account.
While serving as a pundit for TNT Sports at the Champions League final at Wembley, Mourinho confirmed his new appointment.
According to Turkey’s NTV television station, the official announcement is expected on Sunday, with Mourinho reportedly set to sign a two-year contract.
Fenerbahce, one of Istanbul’s top clubs, has not won their domestic league in a decade.
Mourinho’s recent tenure at Roma saw him lead the club to the inaugural Europa Conference League trophy in 2022 and the Europa League final last season before being dismissed in January.
