The infamous kidnapper known as Evans, whose real name is Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alongside his accomplice Joseph Emeka, have signaled their intention to enter a plea bargain.
Both face serious charges including murder and attempted kidnapping.
The development was disclosed by the state’s lead counsel, Mr. Yusuf Sule, during a court session on Thursday designated for their re-arraignment, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The proceedings took place before Justice Adenike Cokers at the Ikeja High Court, where Evans and Emeka were expected to respond to an updated five-count indictment that includes allegations of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Mr. Sule acknowledged the defendants’ request for a plea while addressing the court.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor noted that the terms of the plea bargain are currently under review by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN).
