On Tuesday, Lagos state police apprehended the artist Portable, known for stirring controversy, due to an outstanding debt from his G-Wagon purchase.
The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ artist reportedly acquired the luxury vehicle for N27 million but only settled N13 million of the total cost.
Despite repeated requests from the car dealer for the balance, Portable allegedly dodged payment, citing issues with the vehicle.
In an attempt to avoid detention, Portable was captured on video trying to leap over a gate as police officers presented him with an arrest warrant.
However, the police successfully apprehended him and he is now in custody, confirmed by Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson.
This incident isn’t Portable’s first encounter with law enforcement; he was previously arrested for alleged assault by the Ogun police after failing to respond to a 72-hour ultimatum to surrender.
Known for his breakout hit ‘Zazoo Zeh’ and other popular tracks like ‘All Eyes On Me’ and ‘Ogo Forever’, Portable has frequently been in the limelight for contentious matters.
He has also ventured into collaborations, such as with British rapper Skepta on ‘Tony Montana’, and maintains his passion for fashion design alongside his music career.
