In a significant political development, the Rivers State Executive Council has been rocked by the sudden resignation of three key commissioners.
The trio, known to be staunch supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have stepped down from their roles within Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration.
The departures include the Commissioner of Housing, Dr. Gift Worlu; the Commissioner of Environment, Austin Ben Chioma; and the Commissioner of Education, Prof. Chinedu Mmom.
Their collective resignation took effect on Wednesday, May 15.
While the reasons for their exit vary individually, the resignations are indicative of the ongoing and unresolved tensions between Governor Fubara and his once-mentor, Minister Wike.
