At the landmark 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, the esteemed Nollywood veterans Iya Rainbow and Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD, were bestowed with the Industry Merit Award.
This accolade is a tribute to their enduring legacy and exceptional impact on the Nigerian film industry.
The award was presented by the iconic Taiwo Lycet, acknowledging the duo’s significant contributions and their illustrious performances that have enriched Nollywood.
Expressing her gratitude, Iya Rainbow reflected on her journey: “I thank God that I’m still alive. Since 1942. I dedicate this to God and my husband who passed away and to my children,” she remarked during the ceremony.
RMD, equally surprised and humbled by the recognition, stated, “Thank you very much AMVCA This was very unexpected. I’ve been privileged to be supported by lots of young people. Thank you everyone.”
